Dr. Masataka Higashiwaki (Director of Green ICT Device Laboratory, Koganei Frontier Research Center, Advanced ICT Research Institute) was elevated to be a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in class of 2023, which is the highest grade of membership. His citation is “for contributions to gallium oxide electronics and millimeter-wave gallium nitride transistors”.
IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation. This prestigious grade elevation is only allowed for senior members who have made important individual contributions to one or more of IEEE fields. The IEEE includes more than 400,000 members from about 160 countries. The total number of Fellows selected in a year cannot exceed one-tenth of one-percent of the IEEE’s voting membership.
