The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT, President: Dr. Masao Sakauchi) and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Republic of Indonesia’s ICT Research and Human Resources Development Agency (Head of ICT Research & Human Resources Development: Aizirman Djusan, M.Sc. Econ) signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Thursday, October 17, 2013, mutually agreeing to promote a wide range of research cooperation in the ICT field.
In October 2010, MCIT exchanged documents for cooperation in the information and communication field with the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and as a part of those efforts NICT has been exchanging information on cyber security with Indonesia since May 2010. In addition, at the Ministerial Policy Conference between Japan and ASEAN on cyber security cooperation held on September 12-13, 2013, joint ministerial statements including the JASPER (Japan-ASEAN Security PartnERship) project were adopted and a call for further strengthening of cooperation in the cyber security field with ASEAN regions including Indonesia was sought by all parties.
Based on these government level agreements and by signing this MOU, NICT continues cooperation in the network security field and with efforts such as exchanging personnel and utilizing research results focusing on wireless communication technology, NICT continues to deepen further international cooperation in the ICT field.
