Satellite communication technologies and highly reliable control technologies for aircrafts/unmanned aircrafts
October 5, 2016
NICT is pleased to announce to present our latest R&D results in Japan International Aerospace Exhibition 2016 (JA2016) from 12-15 October at Tokyo Big Sight.
At the booth, we will exhibit the broadband RF/optical satellite communications technology for aircrafts or unmanned aircrafts, as well as the reliable communications technology for controlling unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with such as prototypes and videos of demonstration experiments.
We hope that you will make the most of this precious opportunity and look forward to seeing you at the site.
Introduction of our exhibits
Aeronautical earth station for UAS to connect to the WINDS
The Wideband InterNetworking test and Demonstration Satellite (WINDS), nicknamed as “KIZUNA”, has achieved the world’s highest 3.2 Gbps transmission rate. At the booth, we will present the antenna unit of WINDS earth station for UAS to enable low profilization and automatic tracking.
Next-generation maritime & space broadband satellite communications networks technology to provide aeronautical broadband
Next-generation maritime & space broadband satellite communications networks technology can provide the broadband communication to aircrafts. At the booth, we will introduce satellite onboard technologies with the prototypes of a repeater unit (DBF/Channelizer) and an antenna (Phased array antenna).
Small optical Transponder (SOTA) for 50kg-class optical communication satellite
The optical communication satellite enables high-speed/large-capacity space communications. At the booth, we will introduce the technology and the results from our experiments with the actual SOTA.
Control technology with high reliability & wireless relay communications for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)
Small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are increasingly used for various applications in public use and industries, such as disaster monitoring, communication relay, land measurement, infrastructure monitoring, agriculture, logistics and so on. We present some trials to apply fixed-wing small UAS to aerial wireless relay in disaster situations and animal monitoring. The development of multi-link and relay communication techniques is also ongoing to improve reliability of wireless control links for UAS.
