On March 11, the second ASEAN IVO Steering Committee meeting took place. This time the main agenda was the 2016 Call for Proposals, and discussion on selecting joint research projects aimed at ASEAN-wide ICT development. There were 17 proposals received in total. Before the meeting, each Steering Committee member had given scores for each proposal. Matters of selection were discussed on the basis of the summations of these scores.
Because of the large number of proposals, as well as the top 5 selected as planned, the next 3 projects were selected for support with additional budget from NICT, making a total of 8 projects (please see table).
Various opinions were exchanged in the discussion regarding the direction from here on. For example, expectation for research results from the selected projects to expand within the ASEAN region; furthering IVO activity by selecting new and varied projects for 2017; making themes under the next Call to be more specific. These ideas will be taken into consideration in preparation for the next Call, and discussion will continue in ASEAN IVO Forum 2016 this Autumn..
