Job Announcement
In order to actively recruit young researchers and research engineers, we will implement a "rookie recruitment" program for the first time, targeting those born on or after April 2, 1994. In principle, the costs of obtaining a doctoral degree after joining NICT will be covered by our organization.
The position requires a highly motivated mind toward innovative research and the ability to actively and autonomously conduct research in the targeted field.
Upon employment, you will be assigned to an appropriate research field where you will set milestones and research targets to clear within the 5-year term. Start-up funds are allocated in the first and second year of employment and can be used for research.
During the 5-year term, you may be given the opportunity to be evaluated by the executives and apply for a permanent position.

Qualifications
- The applicant in principle, must be able to start the position as of April 1st, 2026
- Those who hold a doctoral degree and have completed their doctoral course within the last three years as of March 31, 2025 (including those who are expected to obtain their degree by April 1, 2026) or those who hold a master's degree and have completed their master's course within the last six years as of March 31, 2025 (including those who are expected to obtain their degree by April 1, 2026) and who have abilities recognized as equivalent to those who have a doctoral degree.

Conditions
- The target research theme, etc. will be determined after close discussion with the division or group you will belong to.
- Researcher (Tenure-Track) who have achieved a certain level of success may have the opportunity to be evaluated by the executives and become a permanent researcher before the expiration of their five-year term.

Compensation and Benefits
This is a fixed-term "Researcher (Tenure-Track)" position of 5 years.
Salary (example)
Basic Monthly Salary 459,000JPY (Starting salary for new master's graduates)
Basic Monthly Salary 515,000JPY (Starting salary for doctor graduates)
The following allowances will be permitted in addition to the above:
- Dependent allowance…… Employees with dependent family members will receive; e.g., 11,500 JPY/month per child, etc.
- Housing allowance…… Employees with rented accommodation will receive a maximum of 28,000 JPY/month.
- Commuting allowance…… Employees will receive commuting costs a maximum of 150,000 JPY/month; e.g., the monthly commuter pass fee for public transportation.
In addition, overtime allowance, qualification allowance, special researcher allowance, special service allowance, and discretionary labor adjustment amount may be permitted for those that apply.
Work Schedule, etc.
- Full-time, 5 days (average of 37.5 hours) a week.
A 'flextime' labor system is applied in principle. - Annual Paid Leave
20 days (April 1st to March 31st)
Available on an hourly basis - Other special paid leave can be granted.
Telecommuting Program is available. - Childcare and nursing care leave are also granted.

Selection Process
1. Reception of entry sheet and document screening
After careful document screening,and those who pass will be notified of the executive interview schedule on emails in late March.
2. Executive interview
Candidates will be called for an interview with the executives at the headquarters etc (final selections).
This will be the final selection stage and is scheduled for late April.
You can choose between Japanese and English as the language.
We will ask all interviewees to submit the following documents on My Page.
In principle, interviews will be conducted at the head office (Koganei City, Tokyo). However, interviews may be available at locations other than the headquarters.The travel expenses for the interviews will not be reimbursed.

- Presentations must be less than 10 minutes and the file size must be kept to less than 10MB.
- Modifications to the documents will not be accepted after submission. You may NOT bring in your own computer and/or additional materials.
- Recommendations from NICT employees will not be accepted.
- The 2 letters shall be addressed to the President of NICT and must be signed by each recommender.
- The letters can be in English.
- You do not need to send the original by mail.
