On August 30, NICT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the MITRE Corporation (McLean, Va. USA), a not-for-profit company that operates seven Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) for the United States government. The MOU covers research and development in the field of information and communications technology, especially in cybersecurity and its related fields of computer science. Among its portfolio, MITRE operates the National Cybersecurity FFRDC. This is the first FFRDC solely dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity.
Based on this MOU, NICT will develop a long-term partnership with MITRE to advance cooperation and collaboration in research with MITRE through various methods including sharing information on cybersecurity, joint research, and exchange of experts.
